Today, we’re back with a new installment of our “Meet the Founder” series. It’s been a while, but I’m incredibly excited to dive into a conversation with a true force in the non-traditional education landscape, right here in Florida. I’m absolutely thrilled to introduce Iman Alleyne, founder of Kind Academy Microschool Network, a dedicated educator with a diverse public, charter, private, and homeschooling background. Her passion for personalized, student-centered learning led her to establish Kind Academy, which has received accolades such as the Yass Prize semifinalist award and the VELA Ed Grant.
A best-selling author and sought-after speaker, Iman has shared her insights at prominent events like ASU+GSV and the International School Choice & Reform Conference. Through her Launch Your Kind Accelerator Program, she supports aspiring micro-school founders, extending her impact both in person and online to revolutionize education globally.
As a fellow Florida founder in the microschool and homeschool enrichment space, I first had the pleasure of meeting Iman last year at Vela Con.
Inspired by her journey, I joined her Launch Your Kind Accelerator Program and her guidance has been invaluable to me as I launched my own Learning Pod. Iman isn’t just building a business; she’s fostering a movement built on kindness, vision, and a deep commitment to children. Our Kind Academy Microschool Network transforms education through personalized, student-centered learning, preparing students for real-world success. We offer in-person and online programs, and our Launch Your Kind Accelerator Program empowers aspiring microschool founders to create impactful learning environments.
In what ways is your approach disrupting the traditional education model?
Our approach at Kind Academy disrupts the traditional education model by prioritizing personalized, student-centered learning over standardized curricula. We focus on real-world skills, passion-based projects, and social-emotional development, allowing students to explore their interests and strengths. Unlike the one-size-fits-all approach of conventional schools, we offer flexible learning environments that adapt to each student’s needs, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and independence. Our model also empowers educators to act as guides and mentors rather than mere instructors, fostering a supportive community where students thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
What specific challenges do you see educators facing today, and how does your program/platform address them?
Educators today face challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, rigid curricula, lack of resources, and high-stakes testing, limiting their ability to provide personalized attention and innovative teaching. They often need help with burnout due to administrative demands and the pressure to meet standardized benchmarks.
Our Kind Academy Microschool Network addresses these issues by creating smaller, more intimate learning environments where teachers can focus on each student’s individual needs and strengths. We provide educators with the freedom to design engaging, passion-based curricula that align with real-world skills, reducing the emphasis on standardized testing. Additionally, our support system, including professional development through our Launch Your Kind Accelerator Program, equips educators with the tools and training to thrive, ultimately enhancing their job satisfaction and effectiveness.
What will success look like for your company in five years?
In five years, success for Kind Academy will mean having a global network of thriving microschools, each providing personalized, student-centered education tailored to the unique needs of its learners. We aim to empower thousands of educators through our Launch Your Kind Accelerator Program to start their microschools, fostering innovative teaching practices and stronger community connections.
We will measure our impact by tracking student outcomes, such as academic growth, emotional well-being, preparedness for real-world challenges, educator satisfaction, and retention rates. Our ultimate vision is to lead a global movement in education transformation, showing that personalized, passion-based learning leads to happier, more successful students and educators worldwide.
What exciting innovation or development can we expect to see from your company in the near future?
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our new Project-Based Learning App. This innovative app enhances hands-on learning by enabling students to engage in real-world projects. It will provide a platform for students to collaborate with peers, track their progress, and receive interactive feedback. The app aims to foster deeper understanding, creativity, and critical thinking skills by integrating project-based learning into a digital format.
